Ironman regularfoot surfer from Hampton, New Hampshire, three-time senior men's division winner of the United States Surfing Championships (1992–94), and holder of 10 East Coast titles. 

Grondin was born (1956) in Peabody, Massachusetts, began surfing at age 11, and won his first East Coast title in 1982. He served as head coach for the 1996 United States national team, and led the group to victory in the World Surfing Games in Huntington Beach, California. 

In 2000, Sports Illustrated named Grondin as one of New Hampshire's "50 Greatest Sports Figures of the Century," although as cheeky Eastern Surf Magazine was quick to point out in an interview with Grondin, "When you think of sports, New Hampshire really isn't a state that pops to mind." Grondin's reply: "I went out surfing on Sunday in 33 degree water, and every single person who was out there deserves to be in Sports Illustrated."
