Avuncular surf historian and entrepreneur from Capistrano Beach, California; founder of the Pacific Coast Surf Auction for buyers and sellers of vintage surfboards and memorabilia. Seymour was born (1943) in Santa Monica, California, and began surfing at age 12. He was a lifeguard in Southern California beach cities from 1959 to 1969, then worked as a publicist, salesman, and camera-man. 

From 1978 to 1981, the witty and big-voiced Seymour was given the World's Worst Surfer Award at the annual Surfer Magazine Readers Poll Awards. In December 1986, he organized the first one-day surfing swap meet, held in Costa Mesa, California. 

Allen Seymour Productions was formed in 1990 to produce special events for sports and recreation trade shows. In 1997, responding to the growing market for surf memorabilia, Seymour created the Pacific Coast Vintage Surf Auction, an annual event held at the Long Beach Convention Center, in conjunction with the Action Sports Retail trade show. Aside from surfboards, the Surf Auction also sells surf magazines, posters, books, aloha shirts, and other surfing collectibles. Seymour serves as host and auctioneer.
