surfari

A compound of "surfing" and "safari," used to describe a surf travel adventure, particularly to someplace remote. The opening lines to "Surfin' Safari," the Beach Boys' 1962 single, was a call to good time surf travel: "Let's go surfing now, everybody's learning now / Come on a surfari with me." Surf magazine editors over the years have often used the word in article titles, from "Surfari to Baja"...
