Surf photographer and journalist from Durban, South Africa. Tostee was born (1966) and raised in Durban, began surfing at age 13, and competed on the world pro tour from 1986 to 1989. In Newcastle, Australia, in 1987, Tostee earned a distinction of sorts as the only surfer ever to be struck by lightning during a world pro tour competition.
