Hyperfit competitive surfer from Huntington Beach, California; winner of six United States Surfing Championship titles in the 1990s, and winner of the 2002 Women's World Longboard Championship. 

Hamrock was born (1960) in Whittier, California, and began surfing at age 16. Married three years later and the mother of three by 28, Hamrock didn't start competing until 1990 at age 30. Entering both shortboard and longboard divisions (and occasionally kneeboard and bodyboard as well), the diminutive blond goofyfoot won her first U.S. shortboard title in 1993, repeated in 1994, then won both longboard and shortboard titles in 1995 and 1996. 

Hamrock became a professional longboarder in 1998; the following year she placed third in the Women's World Longboard Championships, and in 2000 she took fifth. She earned $3,000 for her win in the 2002 Championships. 

Hamrock has been the owner and chief instructor of Surf City Surf Lessons in Huntington since 1995; from 1996 to 1999 she wrote the instructional "Water Wisdom" column for 

 magazine, and in 1996 she produced the instructional video 

Hamrock was profiled in the 2000-published women's surfing book, 

Girl in the Curl: A Century of Women in Surfing

, comes from the fact that she didn't begin surfing until the relatively late age of 16. "That's why I'm such an animal. I don't think I'll ever ride enough waves to catch up." 

Hamrock competed in select specialty wave events throughout the 2000s. She won the longboard division of the 2005 T&C Women's Pipeline Championship, and was the women's division champ at the 2005 Central Surf Longboard Tuberiding Invitational at Puerto Escondido. 

In 2005, Hamrock became the first and only female invitee to the Red Bull Big Wave Africa event at Dungeons. Hamrock was inducted into the Surfing Walk of Fame at Huntington Beach in 2005.
